He was a kind heart, and always shared his popcorn with me. I am sure he made tons of it for others, he was my husbands friend.

I knew Chuck since I was 15 years old and I worked with him at Arapahoe for 15 years. Chuck was a true friend for life and he was like a brother to me. I will see him again some day. Rest In Peace my friend.

Chuck was my dads best friend. Every time I came to visit my dad he would meet us at Coors tavern for a red beer. I recently introduced him to my girlfriend and he promised he would come to our wedding if he didn’t steal her from me before I asked her. I loved his sense of humor and will never forget him.

He was my social studies teacher at Pitts. We learned about seagulls. In the fall of 1973 I was really having a hard time. I was isolated and desperate. I was hopeless. One day I was in a crush of students flowing through the hallway and as we passed Chuck's classroom, I saw him standing in front of it, watching the parade. His eyes locked on mine and he raised his index finger to the side of his nose and flipped it down. It was from "The Sting." It was an acknowledgement. He had no idea what I was going through; I was just one of many. But that gesture really pulled me up and made me feel not so alone in the world. This is what the best teachers do. Like Chuck did with me, they pick their moment and reach out and acknowledge you. I have always been grateful to him for that and was happy to be his Facebook friend. I'm sure he had no memory of me per se, how could he? But when you're lonely and broken and 13 and a guy gives you the special signal, well, you remember that guy as long as you live. Plus we learned that mama seagulls regurgitated their food for their chicks to eat. Gnarly! Rest well friend.
